The real meaning of Christmas is often forgotten. More children believe in Father Christmas than in Jesus. Christmas Day is a time for eating and drinking too much and watching television.




The real Christmas story is found in the Bible. It is told in two different books: Matthew and Luke chapters 1 and 2. You may think that the story of the birth of Jesus, and the way that the West celebrates Christmas today, do not seem to have many connections.

The birth or Jesus was not ordinary! Mary was not married, she was a virgin, and an angel had told her she would bear a special baby. Her husband-to-be, Joseph, did not believe her at first. Who would? Then an angel told him in a dream that it was true! Probably no one else believed it. So when they had to travel from their home in Nazareth to Bethlehem (near Jerusalem), to register their names with the ruling Roman government, they probably escaped many hard words from other people.

Arrival in Bethlehem brought worry and upset: there was no room for them to stay at the hotel. There was only space in the stable - the animal house for travellers' donkeys and horses.

Jesus was born that night, and as they had no bed for him, they used an animal feeding box filled with the dry grass the animals ate.

Christmas cards and pictures today make it all seem very nice. In truth, it must have been dirty and frightening for a young couple, far from their home and families. Possibly the birth was premature after the stress of the journey. This was a very poor place for Jesus to start his life on earth.

BARRIEL DARINA



Darina Barriel was born in Odessa on the 20th of May 1981. When she was only 10 she performed her own song at the contest «Your talents Ukraine». She was awarded with grand prix. At the age of 15 she came to God and was baptized in a baptist church "Bathany"in Odessa.


In 1997 Darina graduated from the musical school. The same year she was invited to record her songs in christian studio "PIER" in Odessa. Darina's song «Look at the cross» soon became popular among christian youth of the city and was gladly accepted at the Ukrainian christian youth festival in summer 1999 in Crimea. In 2000 studio "PIER" recorded her musical album «Meaning» with three Darina's songs.
Today she studies on the third course of the Math faculty at Odessa National University. Also she sings with the band "PIER" and records her album.

Today, the world woke up to a funky Google Doodle featuring a white and green flag with a green star. To many the connection is not obvious, but today Google is honoring the 150th birthday of L.L. Zamenhof. Zamenhof was an opthalmologist and philologist, but his biggest claim to fame was inventing Esperanto, a constructed language used for international communication.

Esperanto's flag is a green rectangle with a smaller white square with a green star superimposed in the top left corner, and it was worked into Google's Doodle today. Ironically, Google offers search results in Esperanto. Green in Esperanto's flag symbolized hope, white - peace, and the five-pointed star symbolized five continents united together.

Interestingly, Zamenhof himself spoke Russian, Polish and Yiddish. Living in a Polish town where many different cultures coexisted side by side inspired Zamenhof to create a language anyone could understand regardless of cultural heritage.

In 1887, Zamenhof created the language he called Esperanto (stands for "hopefull"), which borrowed linguistic elements from a mix of languages Zamenhof learned in his lifetime. Zamenhof firmly believed the creation of international language is bound to promote peace and tolerance. And, although the language was not universally adopted, it was spoken by nearly two million people at one point. It is still widely used in correspondence, conventions, broadcasting, and military. For his life's work Zamenhof was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and even has a planet named after him.

Sometimes its important to sit back and think about one's life. Its times like this that you really should appreciate what you have and what you should be thankful for. Everybody has ups and downs, good days and bad days and sometimes what may seem to be a huge problem one day can be laughed at the next.
Of course it doesn't mean you can always be happy and smiling, that would be..well, not human, but hey, cheer up, there's a lot of living to be done yet!

I have no time for myself

Everyone needs to have some individual time to themselves. Usually it's the exact opposite in a marriage, the couple never gets to spend quality time together. So I commend you on spending a lot of time together as a couple. It can strengthen the relationship You do need some time to yourself. You don't want to end up resenting each other b/c you never get a break from one another.

I would suggest trying to encourage your partner to spend time doing something by herself or himself. Something that both of you can look forward to doing alone. Even if it's just you going out for a bike ride for an hour.

Eli Mattson, (born November 4, 1981), is a singer/songwriter who claimed second place on the hit US show, "America's Got Talent".

Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.

Mattson was born in Duluth, Minnesota. He has been playing piano since he was five years old and has been performing, including his own compositions, since the age of fourteen.

When Eli was only 17, he was awarded a prestigious grant from the Peninsula Arts Association in Wisconsin to help further his music career.

After touring with a country band, he lived in Chicago for three years before his national debut on America's Got Talent.
